Dumpster enclosures - often called "corals" - are not the most
attractive structures. It's understandable that if you own a
coral, you want it to be as small and inconspicuous as
possible. If you are constructing a coral, there are a few
requirements to keep in mind:
Enclosure
Requirements
- The gate must open beyond 90 degrees to allow the
mirrors on the truck to pass (see top arrow).
- Gates also require a "drop bar" mechanism to hold door open and away from
truck (see second arrow). Without such a device, the wind can
blow the gates closed in people attempting to load the
dumpster. It can also lead to truck and/or garbage corral
gate damage.
Please note truck is wider than dumpster.
