Yard Waste
Yard waste is defined by the county (you may read
the Frederick County definition of yard waste here). Yard waste
is no longer accepted by Frederick County landfills. This means that
all yard waste must be brought to compost areas separate from solid
waste.
This new yard waste regulation in Frederick County can be a big
inconvenience to all of us, but keeping biodegradable yard waste out
of our landfill is the right thing to do. If you are planning a lawn
or garden project that will generate large amounts of yard
waste, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Do you have access to a truck to haul the lawn and garden
clippings to the Frederick County compost site?
- Do you have the time to haul your yard waste?
- Do you know how yard waste should be packaged?
- Do you know what is and is not accepted at the Frederick
County compost facilities?
To answer these important yard waste recycling questions, please
visit the
Frederick County website. If you would like American Disposal
Systems to come and collect the yard waste and haul it to one of
Frederick County's compost facilities, please
call us - we would be happy to help!
At this time there is not enough demand to run a scheduled weekly
or bi-weekly yard waste pickup, but we can come pickup at an on-call
basis. For more information about our yard waste pickup pricing,
please give us a call.
Thank you! After all, recycling is for a very good cause!

Recycling Electronics
Do you know that some of the worst items to throw in the trash
are old electronics? Trash items like old computers, computer
monitors, keyboards, batteries, printers, VCR's, cell phones or old
video games cannot be landfilled safely. Any type of electronic
trash will contain a variety of materials such as lead, cadmium,
beryllium, mercury, hexavalent, chromate, as well as toxic chemicals
or materials that will leach into the ground and could end up in our
drinking water.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
"Electronic equipment contains metals and other materials that can
be hazardous to human health and the environment if they are not
properly managed."
The next time you have old electronic items to throw out, call
ADS and we'll pick them up and make sure they are properly
recycled. We have partnered with
e-EndUSA in Frederick, Maryland.
They are a major electronics recycler with a zero-landfill policy so
you can be sure all of your electronic trash is properly recycled.
If you have old computers to be disposed of, don't forget that
your hard drive has information that you probably want to keep
private. Most standard procedures for deleting files may not be
sufficient to completely prevent data recovery. e-EndUSA uses
government recommended procedures that will completely destroy all
of your old computer's data.
Give us a call for more details regarding recycling old
electronics.
Remember, when you have American Disposal Systems pick up your
electronics garbage, you will be confident that you are doing the
right thing and demonstrating good environmental stewardship.
